This strategic shift follows major restructuring at the publicly-funded organization, including the stepping down of its former chief executive last month after both employee protests and government pressure for major restructuring.

Growing Cybersecurity Concerns

The fresh initiative comes amid growing concern about the nation's susceptibility to digital service failures and cyber-attacks.

Recent situations have highlighted these weaknesses, including a widespread failure affecting worldwide digital services and recent cyber-attacks that halted manufacturing at major factories and supply chains across multiple companies.

Leadership and Oversight

A former commander of the UK's air and space warfare centre will deliver recommendations next month on how the state-backed organization can best support the extent of national AI objectives in national security, national security and intelligence.
