Jurgen Klopp admits a return to lead Liverpool is plausible in theory.

Jurgen Klopp, who left Liverpool in 2024, remarked that rejoining the club is a possibility. The 58-year-old, post a game-changing near-decade reign featuring continental glory and the Premier League crown for three decades, has since taken on positions in a global football capacity with the Red Bull group and as an advisor for the DFL.

Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

They secured the league title in the previous campaign, yet numerous supporters who revere Klopp would embrace the possibility of his potential comeback. In a wide-ranging interview, he told the podcast host: “I declared I won't manage another team within the country. Which implies should it be the Reds...absolutely. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“At 58 years old, that means I could make the decision later on, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? Then I will not coach again. Luckily, no such pressure exists. I can just see how things unfold.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Questioned regarding which situations must arise to bring him back to management, Klopp admitted he was not instantly drawn to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I enjoy my current role,” he commented. “I don’t miss coaching; No desire to be in the rain for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to media briefings repeatedly each week or doing numerous chats a week.

“I don’t miss the dressing room in that context, but sitting in a restaurant with the team having a nice chat, is pleasant. We won a lot of games meaning regularly great spirits in the building. Remaining with me is Van Dijk's laughter in my ear to illustrate.”

Commending Arne Slot

He spoke highly for his successor, acknowledging his role for the adjustments which secured the championship last term. Liverpool have lost four in a row across various tournaments after a summer spending spree, though he denied the suggestion it could be a decline.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward in Flo[rian] Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if spoken against. He’s an incredible talent. [Hugo] Ekitike, superb talent. This is a well-built thoughtfully assembled roster. No need for concern about Liverpool, they will be fine.”

Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota

He shared movingly on the loss of Jota, whom he brought in during his tenure, and the effect on Liverpool. The Portugal international died tragically in a car crash with his brother recently.

“How do you replace somebody like Diogo? It goes beyond his footballing ability, it's his character. I struggle to conceive the squad missing him. Putting it into words is tough about it. A profound tragedy for his teammates also. Not a single person would cite it to justify results yet it's the reality. Being in that space which he filled completely. Handling this individually is not easy. Unbearable.”
