British tennis star Emma Raducanu ends her season and will keep coach for 2026.
The British player reached the third round in three Grand Slam tournaments Grand Slam events this year.
Britain's Emma Raducanu will not compete in the last two tournaments in 2025 due to the illness that has affected her over the past 10 days.
Raducanu, aged 22 was due to play in events in Asia but has decided to fly home to recover prior to beginning plans for the 2026 season.
These plans will involve coach Francisco Roig, as the pair will keep partnering for the upcoming season.
She underwent blood pressure monitoring during her first-round match versus Ann Li in Wuhan and retired when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.
She again required a doctor's assessment at the Ningbo Open this week, where she was defeated in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in round one.
She was also playing with clear difficulty in the final set versus Zhu owing to a lower back issue that has been a concern on several occasions in 2025.
Such performances meant an encouraging season, in which Raducanu rose into the top 30 globally after a long gap for the first time since 2022, ended with three successive defeats.
The athlete was close to victory with three match points before losing to Jessica Pegula in round three in the Beijing tournament last month.
Raducanu won twenty-eight matches in the current season and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami Open in March.
The British number one reached the quarter-finals of a premier WTA event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament prior to a loss in a three-set match to the world number four Pegula.
She worked with trainer Mark Petchey between Miami and Wimbledon, with Roig taking over for the US Open.
The original arrangement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was until the end of the season but the partnership will continue, with planned training sessions in the coming months.
She mentioned that a three-day test period with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as the meeting was kept under wraps.
She came very close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their initial event as a team in August's Cincinnati tournament.
Roig joined her in the New York tournament, where she made the third stage then falling to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
